New EV Charging Station – Now Available at Riviera
We’re excited to announce that our EV charging station is now up and running! This bay is a shared space for both EV charging and car washing – to keep it fair and efficient, here’s everything you need to know.
How to Book a Time for the EV Charger / Washing Bay
Bookings are essential. To charge or wash your car, please book your time slot using our shared Google Calendar. To create events, please contact Fernando to add your email and give you access to the calendar. Simply create a calendar event at your desired time to ensure fair access and prevent overlap. Always check the calendar before using the booking system.
Charging Rates for the EV Charger
Time Rate per kWh
Peak (3:00pm – 9:00pm daily) $0.85
Off-peak $0.50
Rates may vary based on energy provider costs. We’ll notify residents if any changes occur.
Important: To use the charger, you will need a ChargeFox account and a linked RFID card (available from ChargeFox). Riviera is not responsible for managing usage, administration, or payment on the ChargeFox app or your account. For questions, please contact ChargeFox directly.
How to Charge Using an RFID Card
- Activate the station: Tap your ChargeFox card on the RFID symbol on the charging station to start your session.
- Start charging: Open the flap on the front of the unit and plug in your charging cable, then plug it into your car.
- Stop charging: Tap the RFID card on the station’s RFID symbol to end your charge session. Unplug the connector from your vehicle and to the charging station.

Idle Fees & CCTV Monitoring
To ensure fair use, idle fees apply if a car remains in the bay beyond its booking time. CCTV monitoring is in place to enforce this policy.
- Idle fee: $5 every 5 minutes after your booking ends.
- How is it charged? Fees will be applied to the lot owner.
These measures are in place to maintain fairness, not to penalise honest mistakes.
Washing Your Car
You can also use the bay to wash your car, but you must book a time first using the calendar.
If someone has a charging session booked during your wash, they have priority, and you may be asked to move your car immediately.
Note: This bay is not for regular parking at any time.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Can I book the charger for a friend’s car?
→ Only residents can use the charging station, including guests staying with you.
- Can I park there just for convenience?
→ No. This bay is only for charging or washing and must be booked in advance.
- What if someone overstays their booking?
→ CCTV footage will be reviewed, and idle fees will apply.
- Can I book multiple sessions per week?
→ Yes, but please be considerate – this is a shared charging/washing bay.
- What happens if two people book overlapping times?
→ The first booking takes priority. Always double-check the calendar before booking.
- Is there a time limit for how long I can use the space?
→ There’s no set limit, but please book only the time you truly need.
How to Book a Time Slot via Google Calendar
- You need a Gmail account. If you don’t have one, contact Fernando, and he can create the booking for you.
- (For the first time) Send a message to Fernando so he can give you access to the Riviera – EV Charger calendar.
- Download the Google Calendar app on your phone (Google Play or Apple Store).
- Click the “+ Create” button, then select “Event.”
- Add your name and purpose in the title (e.g., “John – Charging – Unit 85” or “Sam – Car Wash – Unit 95”).
- Choose your date and time.
- Make sure to select the Riviera – EV Charger calendar.
- Click “Save” – and you’re all set!
Make sure your time is available and that you only book the exact time you need.
